TE0714-02 is a type of System-on-Module (SoM), which is designed to offer a reliable, cost-effective, and flexible solution for embedded system. It is designed with the Texas Instruments OMAP-L138 processor, which provides the powerful combination of floating-point and multimedia performance. It features DDR2 512 MB SDRAM, JTAG, Ethernet and parallel port. With its 2GByte NAND Flash, this SoM is well suited for integration in automotive, medical, and industrial applications.The module is based on the AMB device from TI and includes two ARM Cortex-A8 MPUs and a speedy yet low-power TMS320C64x+ DSP. This SoM also includes two Dual-Role Controller (DRC) DMA controllers with 32 concurrent channels that ensure efficient data streaming between peripherals and system memory at low latency. Its digital video processing (DVP) supports both SD and HD video formats and can be controlled using the onboard I2C, UART, and SPI interfaces.The TE0714-02 SoM is designed for fast development and easy customization. Its advanced configuration and control ports enable users to quickly adapt the module to their design needs. An HDL VHDL application programming interface (API) is available for users who require more granular system control. The module supports an array of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux distributions, such as uC/OS-II, eCos, MontaVista Linux, and so forth.In terms of applications, the TE0714-02 is suitable for applications involving industrial automation, human machine interface (HMI) systems, health care, transportation, consumer electronics, medical imaging, gaming, and more. It can be used for developing projects such as robotics, vision systems, smart home applications, and more.When it comes to the working principle, the TE0714-02 SoM is based on a two-level memory design, using both volatile and non-volatile RAMs. It combines the two memory hierarchies, allowing the CPU to access data from the main system memory at the platform layer and from the embedded SRAMs at the application layer. The CPU communicates with peripherals through the onboard DMA eXtended peripherals (DMXP) and DMA channels. The DMA controller ensures data movement between the volatiles and non-volatiles memory in a systematic manner.In addition, the TE0714-02 features an on-chip power management unit that enables the device to be highly efficient and power-capable while consuming minimal energy. This reduces the power leakage and increases system efficiency. The module also supports efficient communication with external components via USB, RS-232, and several other interfaces.Overall, the TE0714-02 System-On-Module has the features and configuration necessary to support a wide range of embedded applications.
