The THS6012EVM evaluation module (EVM) is a device that helps engineers evaluate and demonstrate the capabilities of Texas Instruments’ (TI) THS6012 series of temperature sensor integrated circuits. Additionally, the board is equipped with a secondary thermistor sensor to measure additional temperatures. The THS6012EVM also has a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), two-wire inter-IC bus (I2C) serial bus, and direct digital conversion of any temperature data. The THS6012EVM enables users to accurately measure and observe the temperature sensors in order to evaluate and compare sensor performance and operation. Furthermore, the THS6012EVM can be used to detect and monitor thermal changes as well as measure temperatures using a number of different thermal sensing technologies. The EVM utilizes an omnidirectional analog architecture which measures temperature through power and sound waves, rather than through physical contact like 90-degree Celsius thermistors, infrared and thermocouples.In addition, the THS6012EVM module allows users to quickly and easily program settings, store them, and allow for persistent temperature sensing performance. To aid in the programming of the board, TI provides a free graphical user interface (GUI) software tool. This software allows users to monitor, program, and debug the module in real-time with various features such as parameter adjustment, logging, and data acquisition. The GUI also allows users to quickly synchronize the EVM with any other development platform or system, making it easy to integrate the EVM into other applications.Overall, the THS6012EVM board provides engineers with the necessary tools and features to evaluate and demonstrate TI’s family of temperature sensing products.
