THS7368IPW video amplifier module is a monolithic integrated video amplifier designed to improve the video signal quality of flat panel displays. It offers a wide bandwidth and high linearity, which allows it to achieve a high level of detail in the picture. The device has an on-chip 75Ω flat response low pass filter and provides low noise and distortion figures, making it ideal for a variety of applications.

This video amplifier module has a wide range of applications, such as: driving flat panel displays in television and Video Cassette Recorders (VCRs), driving active matrix LCD displays, video signal buffering and signal regeneration. It is capable of driving a 75Ω terminated digital display with a signal voltage swing from 0.5Vpp to 3.0Vpp and can be used with a wide range of video signal formats such as PAL and NTSC. The device is also suitable for driving and buffering analog RGB signal.

Working Principle

The THS7368IPW is comprised of five functional blocks: a pre-amplifier, distortion cancellation loop, trickle down driver, post amplifier, and a low pass filter.

The pre-amplifier section amplifies the incoming signal. This provides sufficient gain and bandwidth to drive the distortion cancellation loop. The distortion cancellation loop is designed to cancel the image distortion resulting from baseband video processing of the signal. The output of the distortion cancellation loop is a low distortion signal that is passed to the trickle-down driver.

The trickle-down driver amplifies the signal and reduces noise. This increases the signal level to the correct range and prevents any significant signal drop at the output stage of the amplifier. The post amplifier is then used to further amplify the signal, providing the desired output voltage level. The final stage of the amplifier is the low pass filter which suppresses the high-frequency components of the signal and flattens their frequency response.
