The TL431IDM is an adjustable voltage reference-based pulse width modulation optimized current mode switch-mode power supply voltage regulator. Compared to its predecessor the TL431, it offers a wider power range and improved current monitoring. Its adjustable precision threshold makes it an ideal component for DC/DC, mains-powered device, and start/stop controls. For these reasons, one can find it in almost all electronics applications, including but not limited to analog and digital circuits, digital-to-analog converters, power amplifiers, and communication networks. It is available in either TO-92 or SOT23-8 packages. Based on its structure, it involves two transistors and two resistors, however, the specific internal circuitry varies depending on the application and its features.

TL431IDM can provide overvoltage protection and current regulation, by controlling the width of an output pulse.
