Texas Instruments’ TLC3574EVM board is a low-cost, but powerful and versatile evaluation board designed to help customers evaluate the features of the TLC3574 Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). The TLC3574EVM is an evaluation module designed to demonstrate the features and performance of the TLC3574, an integrated analog-to-digital converter with a 20-bit (monotonic) successive approximation register (SAR). The board’s on-board functional generator, level shifter, and voltage reference make it ideal for a variety of AD conversion applications.

The key features of the TLC3574EVM include an ultra-low power, 20-bit successive approximation analog-to-digital converter for wide dynamic range performance; low conversion power consumption; and a small 8.5mm x 8.5mm package size. The TLC3574EVM also features a selectable 16-bit / 20-bit resolution for conversion, and allows for a maximum sampling rate of up to 8 MSPS with 16-bit resolution or up to 2 MSPS with 20-bit resolution. The board also includes an arbitrary waveform generator, which can be used to generate various analog signals, and a selectable voltage reference that can be used to set the reference voltage of the ADC. In addition, the TLC3574EVM enables the user to change the sampling rate, gain, filter, reference voltage, and select the analog input through the on-board buttons, making it convenient for users to quickly evaluate the performance of the device.

The TLC3574EVM is widely used in the following application fields: industrial and control systems to acquire and process analog signals from a wide variety of sensors; for data acquisition and quality control in high precision test and measurement systems; for imaging systems such as medical imaging, video- and photo-sensors; as well as for test and measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. Furthermore, the TLC3574EVM can be used for upgrade and replacement of legacy 16-bit ADCs to achieve higher resolution results.

The TLC3574EVM board adopts third-order noise shaping techniques and double sampling SAR architecture with low power consumption, which is suitable for many applications which require power consumption reduction, low-cost, small size, and high accuracy. The TLC3574EVM board can achieve up to 20-bit resolution performance for maximum dynamic range of up to 110 dB dynamic range. With integrated open-loop gain and low power consumption, it has the basic features to meet the needs of industrial & control systems, instrumentation, medical imaging and other signal processing applications. In addition, the board features a wide range of voltage references, selectable input gains and ranges, and an arbitrary waveform generator for more accurate testing of the device. Furthermore, the board also supports the use of an adjustable clock for selecting the best sampling rate for the application.
