LED lights play a significant role in everyone’s life in modern day applications. They are used for replacing outdated and inefficient incandescent, halogen and fluorescent lighting. The TLC5943PWPR’s working principle involves its input interface, comprising of the serial input port CLKIN and the two-wire serial (I2C) port, Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) logic pins, logic input and logic output pins, temperature sensor and clock output pins. MOSFETs, available as an optional feature, are used to control the output current of the LED channels. Output current is programmed through the I2C port with 4-bit resolution.

The input interface is connected to the output of the microcontroller or dedicated LED system controller. The Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) logic pins allow the microcontroller or controller to accurately time the transitions of the PWM signals. The logic input pins enable the customer to chain multiple TLC5943PWPRs to control a larger number of LEDs for complex lighting designs. The logic output pins allow for controlling LED strands in which each LED is individually addressable. The temperature sensor is used to shut down the device and prevent damage from over-heating. The clock output pin can be used to provide improved accuracy in the system.
