The TLE4955CAAMA1 is a magnetic switch (solid state) sensor designed for applications requiring an accurate measurement of magnetic field strength. It can detect low-level dc or ac (e.g. induced by moving magnets) magnetic fields, and is suitable for use in applications such as sensors to detect movement of a door or window, and tachometers to measure the speed of a motor or wheel. In addition, it can be used in positioning applications with an extended dynamic range, such as robotic arm control.
The device is operated by two separate outputs, allowing it to operate as either an normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) switch. When operating in the NO configuration, the device switches off when a magnetic field is detected above the specified threshold. When in the NC configuration, the device switches on when a magnetic field is detected above the specified threshold. The user can adjust the trigger point of the switching function by manual adjustment of the on-board potentiometer. The voltage response of the device is linear over a wide dynamic range.
The TLE4955CAAMA1 magnetic switch operates on a classic Hall effect magnetic sensing principle. The device is a three-terminal integrated circuit with two large-area buried magnets and a galvanometer-integrated Hall element. When a magnetic field is applied to the component, the field excites electrons in the Hall sensor that produces a Hall voltage.
