Working Principle
TLE5009A16DE1210XUMA1 operates on the rotary transformer principle. This involves a stationary part which is known as primary magnet, and a rotating part which is known as the secondary coil. The primary magnet consists of two permanent magnets that generate a magnetic field in which the secondary coil is immersed. The secondary coil is connected to a shaft which rotates along the magnetic field. As the shaft and coil rotates, an alternating current is induced in the coil. The amplitude of this alternating current is proportional to the angular position of the shaft and is fed to the output terminals as an angular position signal.
This rotary transformer position sensor has an accuracy of ±1.5 degrees and a resolution of 5.625/4 microsteps. It also has a wide temperature range of -40 to +125°C and can provide accurate measurement up to 8kHz with a maximum pulse width of 10µs/20µs depending on the type of output used. It also has a high input voltage range (2.5-12V DC) and a very low voltage ripple (3mV) for a smooth output signal.
