Common mode chokes provide inductive filtering for the prevention of high frequency noise coexisting along the power or signal line. Among the common mode chokes, TLF9UAH502WR32, is increasingly popular applied in the electrical circuits. This type of common mode chokes finds its application in many industries. Its features and working principles are discussed in this article.
The core of the TLF9UAH502WR32 common mode chokes is a ferrite (or other) core made of a layered powdery material wound together with two windings. It is usually composed of several layers of fine ferrite powder. Each layer is insulated by resin coating and then the core is wound together with two independent windings. The two windings are independent and are usually in series or parallel. An example of two windings connected in series is shown in Figure 1.

The resourcefulness of these devices lies in knowing that the common-mode signals, frequencies, and currents are all greater in one winding than the other to produce a higher level of decoupling and reduction of common-mode noise from the power/signal line. When the two windings are forced with dynamic currents, a differential voltage is induced, but due to the high permeability of the material used, the bulk of the voltage is confided to the two windings resulting in an extremely high attenuation of the common-mode interference over a wide range of frequencies.
