Working Principle

The TLV1117-15CDCYR integrates a PNP pass transistor between its input and output. This PNP pass transistor regulates the output voltage via a voltage divider, band-gap voltage reference, and error amplifier. The dropout voltage of the TLV1117-15CDCYR is determined by the output current, the resistance of the power pass transistor, and the voltage reference.

The regulation voltage of the linear voltage regulator is established by a voltage divider. The output voltage is maintained by an error amplifier, which uses the voltage divider to compare the output voltage to an internal band-gap reference.
