Introduction
The TLV70311DBVR is an adjustable 3.3V linear voltage regulator of the TLV703 family released by Texas Instruments. The regulator is a three-terminal integrated device package: VIN, GND, and VOUT. The TLV70311DBVR follows linear regulator topology to provide a stable, clean output voltage. It uses PNP input stage and P-channel MOSFETs working in Saturation Mode and a complementary closed loop architecture of an error amplifier and a low side N-type MOSFET at the output. The TLV70311DBVR operates from an input voltage up to 40V, and the current through the PNP stage is accurately regulated to approximately 4% over line, load, and temperature variations. The on-chip error amplifier compensates for variations of external components, such as voltage feedback, voltage reference, and supply voltage. When the error amplifier is activated, the gate of P-channel MOSFET turns on. The Collector of the PNP stage is connected to the lower gate of the N-type MOSFET, allowing the Gate voltage to control the current flowing through the two transistors. The error amplifier compares the output voltage with programmed feedback voltage. When the output voltage is higher than the programmed voltage, the error amplifier reduces the voltage at the gate of the P-channel MOSFET, reducing the flow of current through the transistors which in turn reduces the output voltage. When the output voltage is lower than programmed voltage, the error amplifier increases the voltage at the gate of the P-channel MOSFET, increasing the flow of current through the transistors and increasing the output voltage. In this way, the error amplifier accurately regulates the output voltage.Protection Features
The TLV70311DBVR is designed with features that protect the device in critical situations. The device features an Under Voltage Lock Out (UVLO) which shuts off the device if the input voltage drops below the voltage specified by the user. The device also has an Over Temperature Shutdown (OTS) feature, which shuts off the device when the junction temperature of the device exceeds the specified junction temperature.
