TPS60100PWPRG4

The TPS60100PWPRG4 is a simple, high-efficiency, step-up DC/DC converter system-on-chip (SoC). It is designed to operate from a single-cell Li-ion battery or other input sources such as solar cell, DC/DC converter, AC/DC adapters, and USB power lines.

The TPS60100PWPRG4 has a single step-up/step-down stage with a Peak Current Mode (PCM)-controlled PWM controller and a High-Voltage Power MOSFET switch. This switch operates over a wide range of input voltages up to 16V. It reduces the number of external components and thus saves board space, while providing high efficiency and improved thermal performance. The integrated power MOSFET is capable of switching up to 0.85A with adjustable voltage output. The converter provides up to 85% efficiency by delivering output voltages of 3.1V, 3.3V, or 5V with very low output voltage ripple.

The TPS60100PWPRG4 has two active modes for controlling the output voltage—cycles skipping and pulse-width modulation (PWM). During cycles-skipping control, the device senses the load by skipping certain output cycles or by modulating the pulse-width. The TPS60100PWPRG4 uses a fixed frequency operation which is adjustable from 200 kHz to 2 MHz, thus allowing for optimization of loop stability. The device can also be operated in PFM (pulse frequency modulation) mode for low power applications. In addition, a low-power shutdown mode is available.

The TPS60100PWPRG4 is ideal for use in applications such as Bluetooth® applications, smartphones, and digital cameras, as well as other battery-powered and portable devices. It provides high efficiency and improved thermal and transient performance over other traditional step-up converters. The device also provides excellent output voltage regulation and low ripple, making it well-suited for mobile applications.
