General Description

The TPS60121PWPR is a highly integrated Synchronous Step-Down DC–DC converter that supports a wide range of input voltage from 1.8V to 6V (8V maximum). It is capable of delivering up to 1A. Working Principle

The TPS60121PWPR has an integrated Power Path Manager (PPM) which is capable of seamlessly switching the voltage supply between the input and the output. This allows the device to deliver power to the load even when the input is insufficient. The Power Path Manager is comprised of MOSFET and FET, both of which are externally adjustable.

In Standby mode, the TPS60121PWPR will not provide any power to the load and will remain in low quiescent power mode. When the system needs power, the Power Path Manager will automatically switch the voltage supply between the input and the output. The MOSFET is enabled first, and then the FET follows, ensuring that the output will remain regulated even if the input voltage is below the output voltage. The integrated current limit protection circuit and the over-temperature protection guarantee reliable, safe operation.

The TPS60121PWPR has an internal PWM generator that is used to control the MOSFET/FET to adjust the output voltage and current. The PWM generator is adjustable via external resistors.
