Working principle

The TPS612592YFFT voltage regulator is based on a buck-boost converter and has the characteristic of a synchronous buck with an adaptive-on time controller. The power switch is coupled with the internally generated VSW voltage and turning it ON when the voltage level drops below V SW, and turning it off when V SW voltage reaches the VREF voltage. The output voltage can be adjusted with the help of a resistive divider connected between the ADJ pin and the GND pin. The output voltage is regulated and maintained with the help of an error amplifier feedback loop. The IC has built-in current limit to protect the power switch from a large load current and it also has thermal protection which indirectly helps protect the IC from abnormal thermal situations. The shutdown mode allows the IC to enter a low power state while the POK pin can be used to inform the system of when the output voltage is good.
