TPS62056DGSRG4 Application Field and Working Principle
TPS62056DGSRG4, which belongs to PMIC (Power Management IC) and Voltage Regulators, is a DC-DC switching regulator designed for medium- to high-current applications. Working Principle
TPS62056DGSRG4 is a two-phase synchronous DC-DC converter without having an external Driver. The switching frequency is set at 4.5 MHz, providing a low profile solution with small space and low EMI (electromagnetic interference).
At the start up sequence, TPS62056DGSRG4 first performs an electrical start-up and then turns on the buck regulator. Its internal reset control circuit allows the device to remain in a standby state until the user\'s microprocessor reports that the input voltage has reached the predetermined level. After that, the DC-DC converter will start operating and the regulation loop will be enabled. This loop is responsible for keeping the output voltage at the user configured level. When the load current drops and the soft-start time expires, the device will turn off the P-channel MOSFET and enter a mode of low power consumption.

Furthermore, TPS62056DGSRG4 also has built-in protection features against current limit and thermal protection. The former is achieved by an internal comparator with a hysteresis voltage of 0.3V, while the latter is done with a temperature sensing monitor. The sensing circuit will measure the temperature directly on the die and, if the temperature reaches an unsafe value, the thermal protection feature will be activated in order to prevent the device from operating at an unsafe temperature.
