TPS62088YFPR is a low cost, low output current, current mode, fast response, high-performance, high-efficiency synchronous step-down DC/DC converter integrated with a 200 mA low dropout (LDO) linear regulator from Texas Instruments Incorporated. It supports an input voltage range of 6 V to 40 V, and an adjustable output voltage range of 0.7 V to 5.5 V. This device includes a power MOSFET, low-voltage current-limit, soft-start, a negative overcurrent and thermal protection, fast response time to load changes and excellent load and line regulation. With its integrated linear regulator, the TPS62088YFPR can produce an output of 1.8V/200mA. The TPS62088YFPR is available in a 24-pin, 4.5 x 5.5 mm QFN package and is ideal for automotive applications and consumer electronic products.

TPS62088YFPR applies a Current: Mode control principle to ensure fast and safe protection for the circuit. When the output is close to the higher voltage, it starts to reduce the out current, eventually turning off the converter. To help regulate the output voltage, the TPS62088YFPR employs voltage feedback from the output via an external resistor divider (R1 and R2). This feedback signal is fed to the error amplifier, where it is compared with the reference voltage of 1.8V and the difference presented to the PWM comparator’s non-inverting input.

The TPS62088YFPR has a synchronous buck-boost converter with an internal switch. The converter is controlled by a voltage mode pulse width modulation (PWM) system and provides a dedicated enable input. Enabled by the EN pin, the switching frequency is set by an external resistor (RPWM).
