TPS62202DBVTG4TPS62202DBVTG4 is a synchronous triple-output low-Iq linear regulator in a 32-pin HVQFN package that combines a 500 mA and a 300 mA linear regulator with two 50 mA, 200 mA, 300 mA and 500 mA, synchronous step-down buck converters. It is composed of highly integrated components including a N-Channel MOSFET, voltage reference and other components allowing for a compact design. The TPS62202DBVTG4 has a precision enable pin for enable/disable the device without the need of an external pull-up resistor saving power.
The TPS62202DBVTG4 is designed to provide good line and load regulation over a wide input voltage range. It provides ultra-low quiescent current of 22uA enabling extended battery life, and it can provide up to 1A of output current and is capable of operating over a wide input voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V. Working Principle
The TPS62202DBVTG4 operates on the principle of synchronous buck converter topology. It consists of two power stages- a high-side power MOSFET and a low-side synchronous MOSFET. The two MOSFETs operate in synchronism to achieve higher efficiency.
In normal operation, the high-side power MOSFET is turned on and the low-side synchronous MOSFET is off. This allows the applied voltage to pass through the high-side MOSFET, supplying power to the load. During this time, the high-side MOSFET draws a small amount of gate current and supplies power to the output.
When the output voltage begins reaching the desired voltage level, the low-side MOSFET is switched on simultaneously with the high-side MOSFET, thus providing a path for output current to return to the input voltage. At the same time, the inductor current decreases and the regulator sets a new output voltage level.
The TPS62202DBVTG4 also features a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, allowing it to be used in a wide variety of applications. It also features a built-in 500nA logic output gate driver which can be used to drive external high and low-side FETs to further enhance efficiency.
