TPS622319DRYT is a step-down DC/DC converter from Texas Instruments with a 3mm x 3mm QFN-10 package. It has an integrated low RDS(ON) MOSFET, operating from 2.3V to 5.5V and delivering 0.5A current. Specifically designed to replace the lower power LDO and to deliver higher efficiency, without compromise in the size. Working Principle

The TPS622319DRYT step-down DC/DC converter is a peak current mode buck converter. It is controlled by an input voltage and an external reference voltage that is set by the resistors connected to the FB pin. As the input and output voltages change, the IC senses the difference and adjusts the internal MOSFET switching frequency accordingly.

The IC monitors the voltage on the output and adjusts the duty cycle to maintain the desired output voltage. If the output voltage exceeds the programmed value, the IC reduces the duty cycle by decreasing the ON-time of the MOSFET. Conversely, if the voltage drops, the IC increases the duty cycle to provide more current.

The maximum duty cycle is limited by the internal PFM/PWM comparator and an internal fixed peak current. During inrush or overload condition the device can be protected by an integrated soft start and an external current limit resistor connected to the FLT pin.

The integrated low on-resistance MOSFETs allow the device to deliver a constant 1.23V output at 0.5A from a 3.3V input up to 85% efficiency with excellent line and load regulation. These features make it perfect for high power systems, where efficiency and noise are key requirements.
