The TPS62233DRYT is a high efficiency, buck-boost DC/DC regulator that features a 2-A peak PMOS output switch, optimized for applications where the input voltage is above, below, or equal to the regulated output voltage. This innovative buck-boost regulator delivers up to 4-A of output current for applications including small portable electronic devices with 5-V or 3.3-V core supplies, as well as cellular handset charger solutions. In an impressive size of 0.85 mm × 1.49 mm and with no external components, the regulator can replace large linear solutions with high efficiency solutions and drastically reduce the overall solution size.The TPS62233DRYT is suitable for applications ranging from low voltage to high voltage Li-Ion batteries with input voltages down to 1.57 V and up to 7 V. The device integrates two current mode step-down controllers and two PMOS switches, combining the functions of the buck-boost regulator and an output current booster.The device can also be used as a “boost-only” regulator, a “buck-only” regulator or “buck-boost” regulator. This feature allows for a wide variety of applications such as powering up microcontroller post power-on, reducing voltage droop, and improving efficiency in low voltage or high voltage applications.To control the TPS62233DRYT, the device maintains a constant switching frequency up to 1.5 MHz and features an internal voltage loop, current limit and soft start. With an integrated slope compensation and external compensation networks, the device ensures stable operation over a wide range of input and output voltages.
