TPS62250DRVR is an ultra-low quiescent current, wide-VIN, synchronous, buck regulator optimized for industrial applications, such as, but not limited to smart metering, building automation, and portable medical, computer and consumer. It is a special purpose voltage regulator and part of PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuits).The TPS62250DRVR employs a current-mode control architecture that provides excellent line and load transient response. It folds an internal compensation network to minimize external components and reduce board footprint and cost. The regulator switches at 250 kHz, allowing the use of tiny external components. TPS62250DRVR includes an enable pin and integrated Protection functions including adjustable current limit, hiccup mode overcurrent protection, undervoltage lockout and thermal shutdown. A wide VIN range, up to 72 V, makes it unique in this market, allowing even 4V - 6V in and 3.3V out can be achieved.The TPS62250DRVR is available in the small, 36-pin LLP-EP12 package, a thermally enhanced package suitable for applications where smart meter, portable medical and building automation points access must be minimized. The output voltage is externally adjustable, making it suitable for multiple voltage applications. The TPS62250DRVR provides exceptional load and line transient performance, kelvin sensing for low output voltage drops, adjustable soft-start, fast switching frequency and the capability to optimize external components selection allowing for the most flexible design solutions.The working principle of TPS62250DRVR is based on the duty cycle of an internal oscillator. The duty cycle is regulated by varying the on-time of the switch as a function of the feedback voltage as compared to the reference voltage. The regulator compensates to maintain the output voltage regulation. The output voltage is set by choosing the contrast voltage divider resistors properly.TPS62250DRVR offers high peak efficiency of up to 95%, due to the device switching at 250 kHz, This helps to reduce board space, while still providing good transient performance, making this device an excellent choice in industrial applications.
