TPS62300YZDT is a family of high effective step-down DC/DC converter. Its adjustable voltage range is to 0.6V to 7V with the output current capability up to 2A. The high frequency switching provides no external Schottky diode, which results in space saving, low quiescent current and low ESR/ESL. It also has built-in over-current protection circuit and thermal shutdown circuit to provide an extra layer of system protection.
TPS62300YZDT offers several working modes to save quiescent current, such as shutdown and pulse-skipping modes. With its high conversion efficiency up to 95% and wide input range from 2.5V to 10V, TPS62300YZDT is ideal for driving high-performance microprocessor cores in a variety of applications.
Application Field
TPS62300YZDT is suitable for many applications, such as automotive, industrial, consumer and computer products. It can be used to power microcontrollers or digital signals, or provide a step down solution to power a LCD display in low power environments.
Working Principle
TPS62300YZDT integrates two main functional blocks, synchronous rectification buck DC/DC regulator and output buffer. The input source is connected to boost port which is then connected to the rectifier side. This rectification side generates a rectified waveform which is then connected to the input of the DC/DC regulator.
The DC/DC regulator is responsible for generating the output voltage by regulating the on-time of the PWM controllers. The result is a regulated output voltage at the output of the regulator, which is further amplified by the output buffer stage to obtain the desired output voltage. The output voltage is monitored by an external light load detect circuit, and the light load detect circuit signals the load connect or disconnect situation to the PWM controller.
The output voltage can be adjusted by an external resistor, which sets a voltage reference for the PWM controller to regulate the output voltage. The over-current protection and thermal shutdown circuits protect the system from damage by providing an extra layer of protection.
