Working Principle

TPS62320YZDT is a current-mode synchronous step-down DC-DC converter. It uses a dual-mode control architecture to achieve both high efficiency and low output voltage ripple. The device regulates the output voltage by using peak current mode control, which forces the output current to peak at a precise internal peak current-limit threshold. To control the output current, internally generated pulses are compared to the sensed switch current. When the switch current exceeds the peak current limit, the pulses are forced to zero, or shut off the switch.

The TPS62320YZDT also features a cyclic skip mode which mixes pulse-frequency modulation (PFM) and pulse-width modulation (PWM) modes. In cyclic skip mode, the peak current level is modulated to reduce AWD, which allows efficient operation at light loads. And it\'s capable of automatically transitioning between the different control modes.

The TPS62320YZDT has integrated thermal shutdown and output over-voltage and under-voltage protection circuits. It also features an adjustable current limit and a soft-start function. The device is available in 4 packages: QFN-16, QFN-12, SOIC-8, and DFN-10.
