The TPS63024YFFR is an adaptive, low power, synchronous step-down, constant frequency current mode converter designed to operate comfortably in space-constrained portable applications. It can deliver up to 1.8A continuous load current with excellent load and line regulation over a wide range of input voltages. It is ideally suited for portable applications such as LTE or 5G power amplifiers, Bluetooth amplifiers, mobile phone transmitters, receivers, computer graphics, and hard drive supplies. The device consists of a current-mode, hysteretic-control PWM regulator combined with an adaptive voltage regulator (AVR), both operating at the same switching frequency. Applications

Working Principle

The TPS63024YFFR consists of a current-mode, hysteretic-control PWM regulator that operates in current mode at constant frequency and an adaptive voltage regulator (AVR) that uses an external capacitor to control the output voltage. The PWM regulator consists of an error amplifier, a voltage reference, an internal oscillator, a gate driver, an external N-channel MOSFET switch, an inductor, and a diode. The AVR consists of a voltage reference, an error amplifier, an external capacitor and a voltage divider. The PWM regulator senses the output voltage through the voltage divider and adjusts the switching frequency to maintain the output voltage.#The PWM regulator and AVR operate at the same switching frequency. The PWM regulator adjusts the switching frequency of the external N-channel MOSFET switch to maintain the desired output voltage. The inductor is used to store and release energy to the output when the MOSFET switch is switched on and off respectively. The diode conducts when the MOSFET switch is off, allowing the inductor to discharge its energy. The AVR senses the output voltage and adjusts the duty cycle of the PWM regulator in order to maintain the desired output voltage.
