Working Principle

TPS65131RGETG is a synchronous step-down DC-DC converter, using two controlled switches and two inductors to transfer energy from the input voltage to the output voltage. The device is composed of a controller, low side MOSFET, gate driver and high side MOSFET and is powered directly from the input voltage. The controller integrated in the device includes multiple-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) circuitry to control the current in the switch and the inductors. It charges both inductors in a cyclic order, with a voltage-mode control loop setting the current in the inductor and controlling the switch duty cycle.The low MOSFET connects the input source to the output when it is on. The maximum switching frequency is 1.2 MHz and the low side can be forced to operate in PWM mode without turning the high side on to allow efficient operation at light loads.
