1. Describe
The TPS65218B101PHPT is a single-chip power management IC designed to support both portable (Li-Ion battery) and non-portable (5V adapter) applications. The device is characterized over a –40°C to +105°C temperature range, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. The TPS65218B101PHPT provides three buck converters, three load switches, three general purpose I/Os, two Battery backup power, a buck-boost converter, and an LDO. The system can be powered by a single battery Li-Ion battery or a regulated 5V power supply. The I2C interface provides comprehensive functionality for using the TPS65218B101PHPT. All rails, load switches and GPIOs can be enabled and disabled. Voltage thresholds for UVLO and supervisor can be customized. Power-up and power-down sequences can also be programmed via I2C. Overtemperature, overcurrent, and interruption can monitor the load switch (LSx) for undervoltage. An integrated voltage supervisor monitors DCDC 1-4 and LDO1. It has two settings; only the standard setting monitors undervoltage, while the strict setting implements two undervoltages and a tight tolerance overvoltage. A power good signal is provided to report the regulation status of the five power rails. All three hysteretic buck converters can source up to 1.8 A. The default output voltage is adjustable for each converter via the I2C interface. DCDC1 and DCDC2 have dynamic voltage scaling with adjustable slew rate. The buck converter operates in a low-power mode at light loads and can be forced into power mode (PWM) operation for noise-sensitive applications. The battery backup supply consists of two low power buck converters optimized for very light loads and monitored using a separate power good signal (PGOOD_BU). The converter can be configured as an always-on power source plus a coin cell battery. The status of the battery can be monitored via I2C.

2. An adjustable buck-boost converter with integrated switching FET (DCDC4):
– DCDC4: 3.3V default, up to 1.6A
– VIN range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V
– Adjustable output voltage range from 1.175 V to 3.4 V

3. Two low quiescent current, high efficiency buck converters (DCDC5, DCDC6) for battery backup domain
