Working Principle

The TPS652510RHAT is a DC-DC buck regulator IC that includes an internal switch, high-side and low-side MOSFETs, and a voltage reference. The device is capable of operating with input voltages as low as 3V and supply current up to 3A. The output voltage is programmable from 0.8V to 5V by external resistors. The device can also be powered up to its rated power supply current from a USB port.

Internally, the device includes a variable frequency, quasi-constant on-time architecture that ensures the output voltage is maintained even in light load conditions. This feature enables the device to support light-load standby functions and eliminates the need for large output capacitors. The device also includes a ±2% tolerance voltage reference that allows for the setting of the output voltage with minimal accuracy tolerance.
