Working Principle
TPS71433DRVR is a linear voltage regulator designed for low voltage applications. The integrated 0.2 Ohm MOSFET allows better performance at lower output current of up to 1 A. The regulator has a hysteretic architecture which eliminates the need for a loop compensation network and provides superior power supply ripple rejection. The hysteretic architecture allows for a fast current control and extremely fast transient response.
TPS71433DRVR is based on the internally generated reference voltage, in order to provide an accurately regulated output voltage to the load. The internal voltage reference of the regulator is compared to the divided value of the output voltage by an error amplifier to determine the drive of the MOSFET switch. The MOSFET is switched on and off in order to adjust the output voltage. The frequency of the switching is set by an internal oscillator.
In order to minimize power loss, the MOSFET of the regulator is turned off when the load current is low, which also helps to reduce output voltage ripple. The regulator also integrates a slew control and Soft-Off function to enable minimum power dissipation at light load and when device is in Standby mode.
