Working Principle

The TPS72015DRVT utilizes the charge-pump concept where two parallel filters operate one of two equivalent switches at the output. By connecting the two switches in opposite directions, a charge pump is created that removes all power components from the output voltage. This ensures a fast transient response, low noise, and low output voltage ripple. The input capacitor eliminates internal bias currents and current spikes, while the output capacitor reduces output noise and serves as a filter to reject transients and noise. The control loop inside the TPS72015DRVT is based on an advanced low noise amplifier with an high PSRR and low noise configuration that provides an excellent line and load regulation over the whole input voltage range. Gain compensation is set at 10 mV/Vs. Low output voltage ripple is obtained through an internal voltage divider and an external capacitor.

The TPS72015DRVT operates in current-limit mode and short-circuit protection input. In addition, the device features a high accuracy disable function which allows the output to be turned off or on. An internal delay allows the output to be turned on after a typical 6 ms delay.
