Introduction to TPS7425D TPS7425D is a low power member of the Texas Instruments TPS741X family of low dropout (LDO) regulators. TPS7425D is a quad-channel, low dropout linear regulator ( LDOs) designed for a variety of portable battery-powered applications, such as smartphones and tablets. It features ultra-fast transient response, extended operating temperature range, low quiescent current and adjustable output voltage for both positive and negative polarity supplies. Working Principle of TPS7425DA linear regulator uses a control element, typically a field-effect transistor (FET), to regulate the output voltage. The device operates in a feedback control loop, utilizing a voltage reference, an error amplifier and a feedback comparator, to ensure that the output voltage remains at a constant level. A feedback loop is used to compare the actual output voltage to the reference voltage. If the output voltage is too low, then the comparator will generate a signal that causes the FET to increase its conductance, thus increasing the output voltage. Conversely, if the output voltage is too high, then the FET will decrease its conductance, thus decreasing the output voltage. When the output voltage of the TPS7425D approaches the voltage reference level, the entire circuit enters the "active" state, in which the output voltage is regulated. The linear regulator has the benefit of low output voltage ripple and low average power dissipation.Applications for TPS7425DTPS7425D is a highly integrated and versatile low power linear regulator. It is designed for many battery-operated applications, such as smartphones and tablets, but also can be used in a variety of other applications. This device can be used to provide voltage regulation in a wide range of systems, such as: portable media players, personal digital assistants (PDAs), healthcare monitors, access control systems, WiFi hotspots, VoIP phones, set-top boxes, and laptop computers.The TPS7425D device is capable of providing up to 4 channels dedicated to delivering power to low current circuits. It is also able to serve as a voltage supervisor, providing an interrupt when the output voltage exceeds a predetermined threshold.The TPS7425D is available in a small 6-pin SOT-23 package, with a maximum total output current of 800mA.
