The TPS76530D is a Linear Voltage Regulator from Texas Instruments’ family of voltage regulators for PMIC (Power Management IC). This device provides up to 2.25 A source and sink current with very low dropout voltage. It is capable of delivering supplies with output Voltages of up to 17.6 V. This voltage regulator offers a high output voltage accuracy with its 0.6% tolerance over the specified temperature range, standby current of 500 uA and low 0.6V dropout voltage. The TPS76530D is a single-supply voltage regulator, specifically designed to generate voltages with less than 1% tolerance over voltage, load and temperature.The TPS76530D has a wide range of application fields including ICs, ASICs, DSPs, CPUs, analog supply regulation and power infrastructures for Telecommunication, Computers and Radar Systems. The regulator provides fast transient response, improved noise immunity and efficient operation making it an ideal power solution for applications with high performance requirements. Furthermore, the device incorporates overload protection, overvoltage protection, enable control and shutdown current into its design which enable it to protect of the load from excess input voltage or over-current conditions.The TPS76530D works by using a negative feedback loop in order to create a regulated output voltage. The output voltage is regulated by comparing it to a reference voltage by an error amplifier (EA). The EA then delivers the difference to the gate driver which is connected to an N-channel MOSFET. The gate driver adjusts the gate voltage of the MOSFET in order to control the amount of current passing through the MOSFET. The feedback loop ensures that the output voltage is regulated to the desired value.The TPS76530D also offers users the ability to adjust the output voltage to suit their needs. The output voltage is set by an external voltage divider, which is connected to the Adjust pin of the device. The divider is made up of two resistors, one connected to the output voltage (VOUT) and the other connected to a voltage reference (VREF). The value of the output voltage is proportional to the ratio of the two resistors. In addition, the TPS76530D integrates several features that enable it to protect the load from over-current, reverse current and thermal overheating. The Over-current Protection (OCP) feature prevents the device from sourcing more than the specified current by adjusting the gate voltage. The Reverse Current Protection (RCP) feature prevents the device from supplying current to an over-voltage load by sensing the output voltage and adjusting the gate voltage accordingly. The Thermal Protection (TP) feature detects and adjusts the gate voltage to reduce the output current in case of excessive heat. This feature helps protect the device from over-temperature damage.The TPS76530D is an efficient and reliable voltage regulator solution providing high output voltage accuracy and load regulation. It is suitable for a wide range of applications that require a stable power supply with low dropout voltage. The device also offers adjustable output voltage and integrated protections which makes it an ideal power management IC for industrial, automotive and consumer applications.
