The TPS76718 (QPWPR) linear voltage regulator, developed by Texas Instruments, is a high performance low power LDO regulator, having high accuracy and low noise, providing output voltage options in the range of 0.9V to 5.5V. Its power management capability, low input/output voltage rise, and very low quiescent current make it ideal for many applications where low power is of utmost importance.

The TPS76718 uses a two-stage architecture, featuring an internal compensation network made up of a precision current-limited driver, thermal shutdown and overtemperature protection, and an internal voltage reference, to provide a linear output voltage with a precision of ±2V. In addition, the device is designed to operate with an input voltage of 4.5V to 5.5V and is fully protected against short-circuit, reverse polarity, and overcurrent conditions.

TPS76718QPWPR is ideal for applications such as notebooks, PDAs, mobile phones, and digital cameras, which are power sensitive and require extremely low standby power consumption. The working principle of the TPS76718QPWPR linear voltage regulator is quite simple. When the output voltage of the regulator rises above or falls below the reference voltage, the voltage regulator adjusts the output voltage accordingly.
