Working Principle

The TPS78833DBVT is a low dropout linear regulator that eliminates the need for output capacitors. It utilizes a constant-current (CCM) operating mode. The device uses an internal control loop to regulate the voltage output by sensing the voltage output and turning the device on and off to maintain constant output voltage.In dropout, the input voltage and output voltage conditions are continually compared and the device turns on when the input voltage falls below the output voltage level. In order to limit noise, the device utilizes a high-speed control loop to quickly turn on and off the pass transistor.When the device is in dropout (VIN - VOUT ≥ 425mV at 10A) or when the output current exceeds the set current, the device enters a current foldback mode, which reduces the output current to protect the device. Soft-start circuitry will also reduce the inrush current on power-up or under fault conditions.
