Fuses are electrical devices designed to break an electrical circuit by disconnecting to protect it from high current flows. TR2/6125FF3-R is a type of Resettable Fuses, also called Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) devices. This fuse helps protect connected equipment from potentially dangerous over-current conditions that can lead to fires or other damages.
A TR2/6125FF3-R resettable fuse consists of a conductive polymer and a metal element bonded with a closely packed arrangement of conductive particles. When power is applied, current flows between the conducting particles, creating a low Ohmic resistance path. If the current reaches its predetermined trip-point, the thermal mass of the conductive particles causes the PTC device to become hotter than its operating temperature. This causes a larger Faradaic impedance to be generated, thus limiting the amount of current in the circuit.

The main application area in which these fuses are used is the over-current protection of battery pack and motor control applications due to their high current rating and fast response time. TR2/6125FF3-R resettable fuses operate on the principle of current sensitive resistors called Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) devices. This high-resistance state limits the amount of current flowing through the device by limiting the amount of heat generated, thus protecting both the device and the connected equipment.
When a current over-load condition occurs, the PTC devices will switch into a high-resistance state and remain in that state until the fault is removed and the device cools to its normal operating temperature. Upon cooling, the PTC device will switch back to its low-resistance state allowing current to flow again. This allows the device to be reset and used again for prolonged periods of time, which is why they are known as "resettable fuses".
