TRS3222ECPWR is a synchronous, full-duplex, bidirectional RS-232/RS-485 interface transceiver. It supports a wide voltage range of 3V to 5.5V for both transmit and receive logic levels and is available in a single 2mm pitch, 4x4mm U-DFN and TSSOP-14 packages. Its built-in ESD protection allows it to be used in applications operating in the most demanding environments. The TRS3222ECPWR is designed to convert a single-ended full-duplex RS-232 signal into two differential half-duplex RS-485 signals, and vice versa.

Working Principle

The TRS3222ECPWR is a bi-directional, full-duplex, differential mode Transceiver. In full-duplex mode, it can simultaneously transmit and receive data in both directions. The TRS3222ECPWR converts a single-ended RS-232 signal into two differential RS-485 signals, and vice versa. It features a wake-up function to minimize system power consumption by allowing the device to be placed in a low-power “sleep” state while idle. Additionally, the TRS3222ECPWR has an automatic direction control feature to detect data traffic direction and a data rate auto-detection feature to switch automatically between fast and slow data rate without the need of external control logic.

The TRS3222ECPWR features ESD protection on both the input and output pins that protects against electrostatic discharge up to 8kV. It also features over-current protection that protects against short circuits and insures compatibility with powered serial bus systems. Finally, the TRS3222ECPWR has a wide input voltage range of 3V to 5.5V and low power consumption of 5.5mA typical.
