The TS3L110DR is part of an analog switch family whose members are categorized under Special Purpose in the Interface Analog Switch section. It is an ultra-low current power switch that offers an ideal solution for protecting how a system is powered, by enabling multiple voltages to be automatically connected or disconnected as required. The working principle of the TS3L110DR is based on the SOT553 package in which it is housed – a surface-mount device with a “Junction Gate Field Effect Transistor” (JFET) switch. The device has two permanently-mounted N-Channel FETs that are used to control the power on/off function. The logic control of the device is based on the logic level provided on the Control Voltage Input pin. The device has two input pins: VDD and GND. The VDD pin supplies the power to the FETs and the GND pin connects the FETs to a logical ground.

The TS3L110DR has two key features. The first is the Automatic Power On/Off feature, which is controlled by a logic level voltage on the Control Voltage Input pin. When this voltage is high, it opens both FETs and allows current to flow from the VDD pin to the GND pin, thereby supplying the power. When this voltage is low, the FETs are closed and no current can flow, meaning the device is in the “off” state.

The second key feature of the TS3L110DR is its ability to switch between multiple voltage sources. When VDD is connected to the two voltage sources, one on the positive side and one on the negative side, the Power Source Select pin will be activated when a logic level voltage is applied to either of the sources, automatically selecting which voltage to use, and switching it in and out of the system. This is an ideal solution for systems that require multiple voltages or require quick/accurate switching between multiple voltages as and when needed.
