TUSB2140BN is a Universal Serial Bus On-The-Go (USB OTG) compliant transceiver, equipped with an integrated CAN transceiver that complies with ISO 11898-2 standard. Working principle of TUSB2140BN

The TUSB2140BN USB transceiver works in the following steps. First, the CAN protocol converts the USB data stream into an ISO 11898-2 compliant CAN message. Then, the CAN transceiver creates a physical layer signal compliant with ISO 11898-2. Finally, the electrical signal is transmitted through the CAN bus to the other side.

The transceiver supports discrete and can-bus connection for transmitting digital signals. When the digital signals are ready to transmit, the transceiver will convert the bus signals into physical-layer signals which will be sent to the other partners through the CAN bus. The integrated transceiver supports robust EMI/ESD protection and low power consumption, making it a great choice for automotive and industrial applications.

TUSB2140BN is also able to detect an error condition on the CAN bus, and then generate an interrupt signal to tell the microcontroller to react with appropriate codes. The CAN protocol layer will inform the CAN receivers of an error, so that the CAN nodes can take appropriate action.
