The TZ150N26KOFHPSA1 is a Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) module made by Chine Chongqing HuaXian Electronic Corporation. It was designed for higher power and higher current rating applications. It can be used for AC, DC and pulses current applications. It has a slightly increased reverse voltage rating of 150 volts, and an increased forward voltage drop of 2.6 volt, both ratings are slightly higher than standard SCRs. The maximum average on-state current rating of this module, is 150 amperes. The instantaneous surge current rating of this SCR is even higher, reaching 300 amperes.
The TZ150N26KOFHPSA1 is part of the Thyristor group of semiconductor devices. A thyristor is a general term that includes SCRs, DIAC and TRIACs. This module is a type of SCR, they are a three-terminal and two-junction semiconductor device, with a gate control and an anode cathode junction. With a small voltage applied to the gate terminal, the anode-cathode junction can be triggered from an off state, to conducting turn-on and allowing current to flow. To turn-off the conduction cycle, the anode-cathode junction must be reverse biased. The TZ150N26KOFHPSA1 is used primarily in AC current applications, however it can also be used for some DC applications.
When the gate terminal of the TZ150N26KOFHPSA1 is triggered, the anode-cathode junction will begin to conduct and current will flow. The anode-cathode junction can be triggered by either a small positive voltage placed on the gate terminal, or a negative voltage pulse applied to the gate terminal. This is known as forward or reverse gate triggering. In AC applications, the gate terminal must be positively triggered. In DC applications, a reverse gate trigger is often used to reduce the amount of power required to trigger the anode-cathode junction. This is known as the tail-on effect.
Once the anode terminals of the TZ150N26KOFHPSA1 are conductive, it forms a low impedance conduction path for the current. It will remain in this conducting state until the anode-cathode junction is either reverse biased or current through the device is reduced to its holding current. In AC applications, the TZ150N26KOFHPSA1 will generally stay in the on-state while current is flowing in the positive direction and turn-off again when the current is zero or in the reverse direction. When the anode-cathode junction begins to conduct again, the device will turn-on, in order to maintain a constant current level. This is known as zero current turn-off.
The TZ150N26KOFHPSA1 has several advantages over other SCRs and modules. Its increased reverse voltage rating and forward voltage drop rating will increase the flexibility and the operating temperature range. This increases the operating stability of the applications and decreases the risk of damage due to over voltage or over temperature conditions. This module is also very cost effective. This makes it an excellent choice for high-power applications that are cost sensitive.
In conclusion, the TZ150N26KOFHPSA1 is an excellent product for higher powered and higher current applications. Its increased reverse voltage and forward voltage drop ratings are an advantage over other SCR modules, as is its cost effectiveness. Its ability to be triggered either in a forward of reverse gate configuration makes it ideal for a variety of AC and DC applications.
