The U209B-M is a monolithic integrated circuit for PMIC (Power Management and Current Control) applications. It is an example of a motor drivers, controllers, and regulators, intended for controlling currents in industrial and automotive applications. The built-in over-current limit regulates the motor current to a maximum set value by advancing the start-up voltage, compensating for variations in PWM duty cycle. In addition, additional current limit and fault timer provide feedback to detect and limit inrush current, reducing the number of false triggers and improving system reliability.
The U209B-M further provides improved precision latching, with up to a maximum of 50kHz of latching rate and up to 0.5us of jitter. This means no control output error is accumulated when switching phases, simplifying the motor control algorithm and reducing the time needed to apply new directives. The integrated fault protection features offers short, current, and thermal protection.
