UCC2752D Application Field and Working Principle

UCC2752D is a Adjustable Frequency Pulse Width Modulator (PWM) used for switching power converters, such as buck and boost, used in consumer and industrial electronics. It is a 16 pin chip manufactured by Texas Instruments and is rated for operation from -40 Celsius to +125 Celsius. Its operating frequency is between 100kHz and 300kHz and it has an adjustable duty cycle.

In the PWM mode, the switches are driven accordingly based on the clock frequency and duty cycle determined by the logic levels at SIG1 and the internal comparators. When the comparator output is high, the high side MOSFETs are turned on, which allows the current to flow through the inductors and the output capacitor to store the energy. When the comparator output is low, the circuit is disconnected from the battery, and the output voltage is set by the internal voltage reference.
