UCC28631D is a dual PWM/PFM controller providing power factor correction as well as offline AC-to-DC conversion. It is designed using a highly advanced, low-power CMOS process which provides full power management features in a compact package. The UCC28631D is ideal for applications in consumer electronics including HDTVs, LCD displays, PC power supplies and AC-to-DC wall adapters.UCC28631D features an adjustable voltage reference for controlling the AC-to-DC converter and a programmable peak current limit for containing current spikes. It also allows for quick and easy programming of the power conversion requirements and provides over-temperature and over-voltage protection. The UCC28631D is fully certified by UL and CE and is ideal for a wide range of consumer electronics applications.The UCC28631D family of PWM/PFM controllers are designed from a state-of-the-art CMOS process, and provide a high-power solution for AC-to-DC conversion. It provides two independently programmable PWM/PFM channels for controlling the power conversion. The channels can be configured for either fixed frequency or adaptive frequency control. The adaptive frequency control helps reduce power consumption and improves the efficiency of the power conversion.The UCC28631D family of controllers also provides power factor correction. This helps improve the power factor of AC-to-DC converter and reduce power losses. The power factor correction is done by varying the switching frequency of the top and bottom switches, as well as varying the duty cycle of the top and bottom switches. This helps maintain a constant voltage output to the load while reducing power losses.The UCC28631D family of controllers also provides protection features such as over-temperature and over-voltage protection. The over-voltage protection prevents any damage to the system should an over-voltage situation arise. The over-temperature protection works by limiting the controller’s output till the temperature falls below the set limit.
