The UTC-515A-PE utilizes a four-stage switching sequence which consist of field strength rest, charge buildup, control, and switching. The field rest takes place when the switch is de-energized at which time the internal field is reduced, allowing the control module to monitor the input signals. Once the selected input signal is present, a charge buildup occurs which prepares the switch and generates the necessary static field. This prepares the switch to go into the control stage where the module checks the selected inputs are in the proper state. Once the switch is satisfied with the inputs it will begin the switching phase where the closing contacts drive the switch to the proper position.

The UTC-515A-PE is designed to be implemented in harsh environments and is rated for 240V AC operation at temperatures ranging from -40C to +85C.
