V175LU20AP is an LED Surge Protector employed in LED lighting system for protecting the LED assemblies from failed with high voltage or lightning. It is designed around a Gas Discharge Tube and a Radial Leaded Varistor in a metalized Polycarbonate UL94-V0 housing, featuring high-voltage surge-clamping capability, fast response time, high surge-current capability and dustproof.

The main function of the V175LU20AP is to absorb excessive voltages which may enter the system by lightning or other high voltage surge sources. The existing varistor provides a dielectric medium between the anode and the cathode of the GDT which can clamp the signal voltage and reduce the voltage of the signal lightning. The Radial Leaded Varistor serves for reducing the electrical noise from soft-start and maintaining the stability of the system.

V175LU20AP can be customized with customer specifications for SIP and DIP assemblies, depending on the application requirements. The SIP type is more suitable for indoor applications with a lower temperature range and PCB assemblies with a narrower space, whereas the DIP type is more appropriate for outdoor or high temperature range that need larger space but with the option of a custom board

The maximum impulse current of V175LU20AP is 500A, while the maximum leakage current of 5mA gives the protection mechanism necessary for LED illumination. The operating and storage temperature ranges between -40 to +125°C.
