TVS, short for Transient Voltage Suppressor, is an electronic device designed to protect equipment from overvoltage pulses. Working Principle of V180CH8S
The V180CH8S is a bidirectional device based on Zinc Oxide varistor technology. It works by absorbing the transient energy or pulse in the form of voltage and current, and dissipating it in the form of heat. The device is designed to protect systems from overvoltage transients by providing a low impedance path for the surge current. This helps to reduce the voltage to a safe level, while still allowing the system to remain operational.
The device works by using the Zinc Oxide varistor material, along with an external resistor, to create a voltage-dependent resistance that is much lower than the normal resistance of the transmission line.When an overvoltage transient occurs, the voltage across the device increases dramatically, causing the current to increase to a level that can be safely dissipated. As the voltage across the device decreases to safe levels, the current also decreases and the device returns to its normal state. This process occurs in microseconds, allowing the system to remain operational during the surge.
The V180CH8S is also designed to protect against adverse environmental conditions, such as vibration, temperature, humidity, and corrosion. It is RoHS compliant and can be used in extreme temperatures down to -55°C, making it suitable for use in outdoor and other high-temperature applications.
