Introduction

V20E320 is a voltage-dependent, non-linear over-voltage suppression device that also goes by another name: lightning protection device. It is a series of ceramic-based, surface-mountable (SMD) devices, specifically designed to protect power and signal line-level circuits from the damaging affects of electrical fast transients (EFT), electrostatic discharge (ESD), and lightning strikes. Working Principle

V20E320 works by limiting the current flow of over-voltage surges into a protected circuit. When the voltage on the varistor rises above its rated value, it switches from a low resistance to a high resistance state thus limiting the surge current.
