The working principle of the V22ZT2 is that it acts as a voltage-dependent resistor or a voltage clamp. The resistance of a VDR or a voltage clamp is inversely proportional to the applied voltage on it. When the applied voltage is below a certain threshold, the resistance is very high; when the applied voltage is over the certain threshold, the resistance is very low. Therefore, the V22ZT2 can clamp the over-voltage transients and protect the load circuit connected to it.
The V22ZT2 varistor is widely used in many industrial, automotive and telecommunications applications, such as over-voltage protection of electronic equipment, control systems, power distribution systems and telecommunications systems. It is also used for lightning and surge protection of low voltage DC and AC systems.
