<p>The V250LS40AP is a low profile, surface Mount Device (SMD) varistor series. It is a non-linear, voltage-dependent, resistive, electric transmission device. The device is intended for transient voltage surge suppression in portable electronic equipment as well as other sensitive electronic circuits. It is designed to protect circuit components from transient over-voltages due to lightning surge immunity testing and other abnormal over-voltages.</p><p>This device series is produced on a long rectangular substrate that is 0.20 inches wide, 0.20 inches high, and 0.040 inches thick. It offers excellent solderability, high thermal conductivity, and low thermal resistance. The device is equipped with an integrated over-voltage protection feature.</p><p>The V250LS40AP is integrated with a fast-acting, low-impedance non-linear silicon nitride varistor element. The varistor element offers superior transient surge protection and robust performance in all environmental conditions. The device is capable of suppressing high transient voltages up to 40V peak. The device offers excellent solderability with a standard Sn/Pb alloy process. The device is designed for use in a variety of electronics devices, including; automotive circuit protection, portable electronic devices, AC/DC power supplies, electronic meters, and safety circuits.</p><p>The working principle of the V250LS40AP varistor series is to provide a low-impedance nonlinear conductive path for transient surge current. When a surge voltage is applied to the device, the resistance will be reduced to provide a low-impedance path for transient current. The resistance will then increase as the surge voltage is dissipated into excess current.
