The V250LTX4 series provides superior surge-dissipation performance and stability due to its special construction. The device is composed of a metal oxide core and two layers of fuses, which are superimposed on the core. The core is usually made of zinc or tin oxide and is bonded to metal contacts, which are then soldered to the printed circuit board or wire. The metal oxide core consists of a ceramic matrix with zinc and tin oxides. The top and bottom layers of fuses provide the connection to the printed circuit board or wire. The device is capable of dissipating up to 1200A of 8/20μs waveforms.

The V250LTX4 series utilizes a Zener-diode-like action for intended surge and transient protection.
