V320LS40C TVS - Varistors, MOVs are used to protect circuits and devices from transients, surges and related threats. This is done by absorbing excess current to safely divert it away from sensitive components.
V320LS40C is a bidirectional and multilayer metal oxide varistors (MOV) providing overvoltage protection for a variety of applications including consumer electronics, industrial, automotive, and telecom products. This component is designed to absorb the extremely high-voltage transients that occur frequently in the modern world due to atmospheric, electrical, and lightning events. It can provide circuit protection during simultaneous, short-term line-line and line-ground over-voltages, making it a robust device for a wide range of applications.
The highly reliable designed V320LS40C components are crafted with a non-linear multilayer stacked varistor body structure, which optimizes robustness and minimized the risk of leakage, and has additional high surface area for improved heat dissipation. These components can handle up to 8.1 kV (peak) of surge energy and can withstand temperatures of up to 125°C.
The working principle of V320LS40C is as follows: when a voltage is applied to one of its terminals, it initially maintains a low resistance and then as the applied voltage increases, the device resistance increases. The resistance starts to climb exponentially at a certain point, referred to as the breakdown voltage or clamping voltage, and then continues to rise. This increase in resistance draws off excess voltage energy and dissipates it.
V320LS40C is designed for a wide variety of applications including: Industrial (communication-protection, machine control circuit, signal-protection, emergency stop circuit and others), Automotive (fuel control systems, oil & gas management, automation systems, airbag detonation systems), Telecommunications (wireless & LAN-networks, cable modems), Home Automation (intrusions alarms, HVAC systems, water leak detection) and Consumer Electronics (TV’s, computers, and other appliances).
