Varistors, MOVs, and transient voltage suppressors (TVS) have been developed for many applications such as protecting electronic equipment and associated wiring from damaging electrical transients, or short-duration spikes of electrical voltage. Since the late 1960s, these devices have been designed and developed to prevent electrical overstress (EOS) and to prevent breakdowns or shorts when exposed to specific voltage levels. With the ever-evolving technology, manufacturers have created specific series of TVS devices and MOVs that are tailored to fit different application needs and requirements.
One of the latest TVS series to be introduced in the market is the Mitsubishi V56MT2B series.
