Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) are an increasingly popular type of oscillator, due to their ability to convert DC voltage into an AC waveform (sine, square, triangle, or other waveform). VCOs are used in a variety of applications, from data-communications to audio-frequency modulation.
The VCO-117TC is a type of VCO that is used for precision frequency control and modulation. It can generate sine, square, triangle and other waveforms, and is most commonly used in consumer electronics, telecom, wireless communication, automotive electronics, and medical applications. Its compact size and low power consumption make it attractive to battery-operated and portable applications.
At the heart of the VCO-117TC is an integrated, precision voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and current-carrier generator (CCG) circuit. This circuit generates a low jitter sine, square, triangle or other waveforms with very low distortion over the frequency range. The output frequency of the VCO is adjustable by changing an input voltage control signal, which consists of a linear voltage or a sinusoidal source. The internal CCG circuit drives the oscillator output with constant amplitude, regardless of the magnitude of the input voltage control signal. This ensures excellent amplitude stability of the VCO output over a wide dynamic range.
On the input side, the VCO-117TC provides two separate synthesizing signals: a linear control voltage that smooths the frequency changing by controlling the width of the voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO); and a sinusoidal control voltage that modulates the output signal. On the output side, the VCO-117TC has a temperature-compensated output driver that allows the output signal to remain stable over a wide temperature range (from -40 °C to +85 °C).
The VCO-117TC also provides excellent noise-suppression characteristics. This is achieved by using a sophisticated noise-suppression circuit that reduces the influence of electrical crosstalk, power supply noise, EMI and ESD. This ensures that the VCO-117TC operates without interference from external noise sources.
The VCO-117TC is a high-performance oscillator with a wide application range. It is ideal for applications requiring precision frequency control and modulation. Its compact size and low power consumption make it attractive for battery-operated and portable applications. Its excellent noise-suppression characteristics also make it well-suited for use in high-speed data-communications and wireless communication applications.
